Not a Wedding Photographer……. Unless

I’ve always had ZERO interest in shooting weddings, but when my friend Linhy messaged me, ‘looking for a photographer that can hike up Mount Maroon to capture our ceremony’…. She had my attention.

Now bridezillas and large crowds give me the ick. But a hiking mission in the sticks west of the Gold Coast to shoot what looked more like a Patagonia campaign than a wedding is right up my ally of adventure!

Camping out the night before so we could be hitting the trail at sunrise, myself and 17 other outdoor enthusiasts (guests bride and groom) started the 2 hour hike up the bushy Mount Maroon Trail.

If you know Linh and Shawn, you know you’ll always find them in the wilderness hiking some steep ass rock then abseiling down off it. But what mentally ill wedding photographer would cart their gear out to something like that and shoot their day? None 🤣. But this guy would! Combining my sports, travel, adventure and portrait photography I didn’t see this as a wedding but a mission to document.

Trudging through the harsh Australian bush not only did I have my gear with me but the wedding party had a little something special with them as well…..

They carted all their formal wear with them! Tramping through the bush and clambering over rocks to then reveal at the top suits, heals, dress shirts and bouquets.

Which all created quite a sight that this hunk of rock had never seen before.

What I really appreciated for this shoot is that Linh came to me knowing I was ‘the guy’. The guy whose always keen to try something different and fit enough to keep up!

If you have a project that’s outside the box, PLEASE SEND IT TO ME! I love working with people that want to do something different and ill always want to go above and beyond for my clients that want to create unique work together.
